Big banks, small lenders unite to fight any limits on debit card fees – The Boston Globe


Banks and credit unions have begun a lobbying blitz to kill a Senate-backed proposal that would allow the Federal Reserve to limit the fees charged to retailers when customers use debit cards.

The proposal is in a Senate amendment to its financial regulations bill; a conference committee next week will hammer out the differences between Senate and House versions.
